Blended Learning for Practical Excellence

The Institute will arrange work placements for students to acquire valuable first-hand
experience.

Delivery of the curriculum will involve face-to-face (on campus) learning, online sessions and self-directed learning. Besides the above structured learning, students will be required to do
unstructured learning as assigned. The practical/simulation training is for review of the learning
activities, practicing communication, work-based skills, management skills and to undertake
other assessments e.g.: group presentation/ individual presentation.

Level of the Qualification:

Aligned with Certificate Level III in line with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) requirements.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

A few of the students may be able to reduce the number of hours to be studied based on the skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. The students will be required to formally apply for this on standardized forms. The grant of RPL will not reduce the course fee. In cases where RPL is granted, at least 3 months of teaching along with 120 hours of work placement (additional hours) would still need to be completed.

To be awarded this Qualification, students must complete 16 units (one mandatory, nine core and six electives) and successfully complete a practical placement of 120 logged working hours. The placement will be within an approved service which will allow the students to complete a range of applicable work tasks.

    The above combination of the units will provide dual specialization in Ageing and
    Disability and will help maximize employment opportunities for our graduates.
